MDLive offers anti-obesity prescribing through Primary Care Routine Care for participating health plans, at the clinician's discretion. General uninsured visits are available, but do not establish access to this pathway. Visit copay, medication coverage and testing costs need separate answers; four states are excluded for anti-obesity medicines.

MDLive can suit someone who already has its Primary Care benefit and wants obesity care within an ongoing doctor relationship. You can choose a PCP and use a pharmacy of your choice, but neither the visit nor a prescription guarantees drug coverage. Confirm the Routine Care benefit, medication bill and laboratory costs before booking. General cash-pay access and low urgent-care prices do not establish a weight-loss plan, and the anti-obesity service excludes four states.

The commitment trap

A low copay or general uninsured visit does not buy an all-in weight-loss plan. Anti-obesity prescriptions require the appropriate Primary Care benefit, Routine Care visit and clinical approval; medication payment and any insurance coverage are separate.

Money you will meet later

  • The general FAQ allows visits without insurance and shows cost before the visit. Primary Care is separately limited to select health plans; do not use another service's cash price as the cost of an obesity visit.
  • A prescribed drug can have its own deductible, copay, coverage criteria or cash price. The selected pharmacy should confirm the medication charge, stock and any delivery or supply costs.
  • Routine Care cancellation can cost $25 within two hours of the appointment; Wellness cancellation can cost $25 within 24 hours. Mental Health has a separate $50 fee within 24 hours.
  • Cancellation fees do not apply to Medicare or Medicaid members. Emergency or technical-difficulty waivers may be available; confirm the appointment-specific terms shown before booking.
  • Laboratory orders and results review do not establish that every requested test or collection fee is paid by your benefit. Confirm the laboratory network and patient responsibility.
  • Refund requests go through customer service. No universal medication refund, monthly drug subscription or automatic refill entitlement is established by the Primary Care offer.

Anti-obesity medicines cannot be prescribed at Wellness Screening or Urgent Care visits. Independent MDLIVE Medical Groups provide clinical services, and the selected doctor determines appropriate treatment.

The pharmacy

Prescriptions go to your chosen pharmacy. MDLive is the platform, while independent MDLIVE Medical Groups provide care. Ask your pharmacy about the exact medicine, coverage, stock and fulfillment rather than assuming a bundled dispenser or delivery service.

Compounded peptides are not FDA-approved products, and a 503A pharmacy compounds for a named patient while a 503B outsourcing facility manufactures in batches under CGMP. Neither is a quality guarantee on its own — a named facility is simply a fact you can check, and an unnamed “partner pharmacy network” is not. Where you can get it

Anti-obesity medicines exclude four states. The Primary Care page lists Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and New Jersey. Elsewhere, participating-plan access, clinical eligibility and your physical location still determine available care.

The honest cons

The part they would rather you skipped

Check the benefit before the appointment. Having general MDLive access, a $0 visit advertisement or an uninsured payment option does not establish eligibility for Routine Care anti-obesity prescribing, and a prescription does not settle the pharmacy bill.

Questions about MDLive

Can I pay cash for an MDLive weight-loss appointment?

MDLive allows general virtual visits without insurance, but its Primary Care service is only available through select health plans. Anti-obesity prescribing runs through Primary Care Routine Care. Confirm that benefit and its visit charge before booking; an uninsured Urgent Care visit or another service's published price does not establish access to weight-loss medication.

Does a $0 copay include the medicine and labs?

No all-in medication total is established by the copay advertisement. A participating plan may cover the visit at $0, while the drug, laboratory testing and pharmacy supplies have separate coverage and patient charges. Ask about the exact medicine, dose, supply, deductible, coverage requirements, refill costs and any collection fee before budgeting for treatment.

Which visit can prescribe anti-obesity medicine, and can my state be served?

The Primary Care page limits these prescriptions to Routine Care, at the doctor's discretion. Wellness Screening and Urgent Care cannot provide them. Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and New Jersey are excluded for anti-obesity medication; broader network availability does not override those restrictions. Confirm your plan benefit and physical location, and expect an individual clinical assessment.

Who treats me and which pharmacy fills the prescription?

Independent MDLIVE Medical Groups provide clinical services through the platform. Primary Care lets you choose a PCP and continue with that doctor when available. Approved prescriptions can go to your chosen pharmacy. Confirm your clinician, exact medicine, stock, payment and pickup or delivery arrangements; no assigned pharmacy bundle or guaranteed prescription follows from booking.

Are ongoing visits, coaching and blood tests included?

Routine Care supports an ongoing PCP relationship, with testing and follow-up based on clinical need. The wellness lab workflow uses contracted LabCorp and Quest locations, but your plan determines patient costs. Digital coaching may be assigned for a qualifying chronic condition. Ask about the visit allowance, test panel and refill-review schedule rather than assuming unlimited funded monitoring.

What if I cancel or need help with a charge?

Routine Care has a $25 fee for cancellation within two hours, while Wellness has a $25 fee within 24 hours; Medicare and Medicaid members are exempt, and some emergency or technical waivers may apply. Review the terms shown for your appointment. Contact customer service for a refund request and your care team for clinical questions; support access does not guarantee an immediate PCP reply or a pharmacy refund.

Read this before you buy
